James Foley
Consumer Protection AttorneyI first came on board with the Ciment Law Firm in February, 2023 where I have focused on protecting consumers from creditor harassment and violations of the credit reporting statutes.
I have over 16 years of experience in the field of consumer protection law. As a second career lawyer I got my first exposure to consumer advocacy by doing debt defense for the firm of Ross & Matthews. I was frequently consulting people in dire need as they were being sued by bill collectors and had no way to pay it back. Often the creditors were not even someone that my clients had borrowed from, and when challenged in a court of law the collectors frequently could not prove their case.
After briefly answering the call of oil and gas I decided to set up my own shop. James Foley PLLC was formed in 2008. I represented people on a variety of issues, debt defense, bankruptcy, deceptive trade practices, The Fair Debt Collection Practices and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
I graduated with my Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in 2006. Prior to that I was a Deputy Sheriff in Tarrant County, Texas. I started working in the jail and worked my way up through the jail, the crime scene unit, and ultimately was a bailiff in a misdemeanor court under The Honorable Phil Sorrells, who is now Tarrant County’s elected District Attorney. It was there that I decided to go to law school. I watched a number of competent attorneys from both the District Attorney’s Office and Defense bar arguing in court every day and decided that I could do that too.
My undergraduate degree was a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Texas Wesleyan University, graduating in May 1992. I have lived in Fort Worth most of my life, and I am also a die-hard fan of the Texas Wesleyan Rams and the TCU Horned Frogs.
