Ambar Balderas
Director of OperationsAmbar Balderas is an operations executive challenging law firm norms by reengineering how leadership, growth, and accountability work in the industry. As Director of Operations at The Debt Defenders, she leads with empathy and a sharp eye for eliminating waste. Her focus: design operational structures that scale with intention, empower teams at every level, and champion innovation that actually fits the firm rather than chasing the latest trend.
Ambar brings a rare combination of frontline legal experience, operational leadership, and technical expertise. Her career accelerated from legal assistant to paralegal to executive in just a few years, giving her a firsthand understanding of the challenges support staff face when systems are built without them in mind. With an educational background in Information Systems and Information Science, she brings a calculated approach to designing technical infrastructure around human workflows. Her leadership spans discovery, development, and implementation—ensuring that every solution is tailored, scalable, and grounded in how the work actually gets done.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Ambar is a first-generation Mexican-American woman from a low-income, immigrant household. She graduated high school as salutatorian with summa cum laude and National Honor Society honors before receiving an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, where she served as a Sexual Harassment and Assault Peer Educator and Response Guide. Though she later withdrew to support family needs, her early service and leadership experiences shaped how she operates—with resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to others.
All of Ambar’s executive leadership has been within consumer law, where she’s helped build firms that give everyday people a fighting chance against billion-dollar corporations and deeply entrenched industries. From debt to insurance to financial services, she has designed systems that support legal teams fighting for clients who are too often overlooked or underestimated.
Her perspective is both operational and personal, rooted in the belief that effective systems should unlock potential and nurture growth. She is committed to helping law firms scale with equity, intention, and the kind of smart infrastructure that serves both the business and the people behind it. In her personal life, she supports causes that uplift military service members, veterans, and individuals facing physical or mental health challenges.
